Minions

When the original Despicable Me came out we were all charmed by the yellow skinned, bald, multilingual, overalls wearing minions. The movie was a blast but wouldn’t be as fun without them. From their introduction to becoming inclusive to the plot in the sequel, it was only a matter of time before these cute critters’ starpower grant them a full feature. Their time is now since their film was released last week. Continue reading to find out whether it is para tu ou pas.

Inside Out

The human brain is one hell of a complex machine. Philosophers, psychologists and scientists have worked restlessly since the dawn of consciousness to try and understand how it works. While a myriad of theories and facts exist on the matter, Pixar decided to represent how our minds function through animation, and it works.

Everything I despised about Jurassic World

Jurassic World is a fantastic movie if your only expectations are that it will contain dinosaurs, action scenes and won’t take itself seriously. If you were looking for originality, cleverness and visual spectacles akin to the first title you will have a bad time. Don’t get me wrong, the movie is still entertaining and it will certainly gain traction with the younger end of the target audience (or your inner 9 years old as would say Jorge), but I can’t get over how Michael Bay-esque the second half feels. Why you should give Interstellar a second look

The latest Christopher Nolan was released today on Blu-Ray and DVD (time to update your setup, fellow geek) and I can’t wait to have my second viewing. If you have, just do it a second time for awareness’ sake.

Eve Valkyrie may be the space sim to rule them all

What a glorious era to be alive… and be a fan of space simulation games. It has been quite a while since we were able to satisfy our hunger for interstellar destruction. In my opinion, the last great space sim was Freespace 2, released back in 1999. After a drought of many years in which publishers steered away from releasing anything descent (the pun was worth the voluntary typo) in the genre, we will soon be attacked from all fronts with releases like Elite: Dangerous, No Man’s Sky and Star Citizen but the one that has me excited the most is Eve Valkyrie. Continue reading to find out why.

Beyond the Red Mirror

2 weeks ago the dark portal of metal heaven opened up once again to grace us with the latest Blind Guardian opus. Have The Bards lived up to the expectations raised by their past adventures in Middle-Earth and the Seven Kingdoms?

The Oatmeal’s Exploding Kittens blows up Kickstarter record

Have you ever wondered what would happen if your cute kitty was confusingly fed a large dose of nitroglycerin and shaken up? Me neither, but it seems this specific mindset mixed with the creative thought process of making a playing cards game is what it took to make it big on the crowd sourcing superstar Kickstarter. That and having a sizable, dedicated following.
